I have spent the last six months thinking about this launch. I am an investment professional best known for my knowledge and understanding of the cannabis industry, which I started focusing upon in 2013 and then launched 420 Investor, a large community of people who rely upon my coverage. I began investing in 1978, when I was 13, and I worked on Wall Street right after I got out of college in 1986.
I wanted to create a website to share my thinking about investing because many people are left out for a variety of reasons. I first started thinking about this in 1998, when I bought two domains that I intended to launch but never did, TheBlackInvestor.com and TheHispanicInvestor.com. I thought then that the minority communities were being ignored by Wall Street, and I find that true today as well. In addition to these large groups of potential investors, Wall Street disregards almost everyone who fails to have a high amount of money.
Why do people not invest?
Investing is inhibited primarily by a lack of education. Quite simply, if your parents didn't invest, then you likely never learned about investing. Some never need to learn about investing, as their spouse handles it. Unfortunately, many marriages end, leaving the one who didn't handle the investing for the couple out on a limb. On the other hand, many don't really have the money to invest, but they encounter good fortune and are then in a position to do so but lack knowledge.
How can one invest?
When it comes to investing for those that aren't doing so, there are two roads to go down. One can invest on one's own, or one can hire an advisor. Some folks do both, but starting either one is not easy. Investing on one's own requires a lot of learning and a lot of practice. Trying to find an advisor is challenging. Many won't work with anyone with less than their minimum assets, which can be a very high number. Finding a good advisor that is affordable can be difficult.
How will this website help?
I aim to educate my readers here about entering the investment mode. I don't expect to actually help anyone with their investments but rather to help them understand how to invest, whether it's on their own or through advisors. I am here to help you get into the investment mode!
